Coleg Powys achieved the level 2 Green Dragon Environmental Standard in December 2009 and is now busy working towards the level 3 standard. As part of the preparation for achieving the environmental standard the College introduced its own “sustainability policy” which you can find on the website. In this policy the College outlines its targets for reducing its carbon footprint. The College has made good progress in meeting these targets but needs your help to keep the momentum going.
Things that you can do to help the College keep reducing its carbon footprint are:
- Reduce energy consumption – turning off lights, computers, monitors and other electrical items when not in use and reporting faults that you come across.
- Recycle – use the bins provided for cans, bottles and paper.
- Avoid wasting paper – think before you print!!
- Use College/public service transport to and from College whenever possible or car share.
Coleg Powys is committed to creating a more sustainable environment for its learners and staff but recognises that it can only achieve this with everyone’s support.
