Studying for a BA joint honours degree in English and History at Coleg Powys (franchised from Lampeter University) following an Access to Higher Education course.

"I left school after A levels and went straight into employment. It wasn't long before I started a family and have worked part time since then. As my children are now getting older I took the Access to HE course which led to the degree course I am now studying. Without these courses being available at Coleg Powys I wouldn't be doing further education.

"The best thing for me is to be able to return to studying as a mature student and have a range of options in my local area. I would strongly recommend anyone in similar circumstances do the same.

"I would never have believed when I started the Access course that I would now be doing a degree. It gave me confidence in my ability to study further as well as the qualifications to do so."

Returned to education at the age of 39 to study an Access to Higher Education course.

Since completing her Access to Higher Education course Jane is now in the second year of her English/History degree course.
