Agricultural Land Based Training (NPTC)

NPTC qualifications are awarded by City and Guilds.

Up to 80% funding for these course may be available via Farming Connect.

Training Courses

Chainsaw Maintenance & Cross Cut
This is a two day training course that covers Chainsaw Maintenance & Cross Cutting. At the end of the course the candidate will undertake a formal assessment covering all the areas of training. On successful completion an NPTC Certificate of Competence will be awarded.
2 x 6 hour days plus 2.5 hours assessment, £275.00 per person

Certificate of Competence in 180 Degree Backhoe
This course covers legal requirements and safe use of 180 degree Backhoe Machines. NPTC Certificate of competence will be awarded on completion of successful assessment.
2 x 6 hours plus 2 hour assessment, £275.00 per person

Certificate of Competence in 360 Degree Digger
Covering legal requirements and safe use of 360 Degree Digger. Candidates must be able to supply their own P.P.E.
2 days training followed by 1 day assessment, £275.00 per person

Certificate of Competence in the Safe Use of Abrasive Wheel Machines
For those working with abrasive wheels machines in a variety of working environments.
1 day plus 2 hour assessment, £150.00 per person

Certificate of Competence in All Terrain Vehicle Handling
The assessment is divided into three compulsory units – Pre use safety, operate the All Terrain Vehicles & completion of the task – ATV’s.1 day plus 2-3 hour assignment, £160.00 per person

Certificate of Competence in Fork Lift Operations – Telescopic Handling – 1 Day
This one day course is suitable for operators with reasonable experience and covers all legal requirements.
1 day plus 2-3 hour assessment, £180.00 per person

Certificate of Competence in Fork Lift Operations – Telescopic Handler – 2 Day
This is a two day course covering legal requirements and safe use of Telescopic Handlers and is designed for those with limited experience.
2 days plus 2-3 hour assessment, £250.00 per person

Certificate of Competence in the Safe Use of Hand-Held Hedge Trimmers
Course includes preparation for safe operation, hazards, risk assessment & routine maintenance. NPTC certificate of competence will be awarded on successful completion of assessment.
1 x 5 hour day plus 1-2 hours assessment, £120.00 per person

Level 2 Certificate of Competence in Tractor Driving and related Operations – Tractor Driving & Loader
This course applies to those working in farming, horticulture, amenity horticulture and sports turf industry. For operators with significant prior experience.
1 day plus 2-3 hour assessment, £200.00 per person

Level 2 Certificate of Competence in Tractor Driving and related Operations – Tractor Driving & Loader
This course is designed for anyone who uses a tractor or tractor operated machinery.
2 days plus 2-3 hour assessment, £250.00 per person

Certificate of Competence in the Safe use of Sheep Dips
Course content includes, assessing facilities and operating to agreed standards, selection and correct us of PPE and completion of essential records. On completion of successful assessment an NPTC Certificate of Competence will be awarded.
1 day plus 1-2 hour assessment, £120.00 per person

Certificate of Competence in Tractor Mounted Hedge Trimmers
This course covers legal requirements and safe use of Tractor Mounted Hedge Trimmers. Candidates must be able to supply their own P.P.E.
1 day plus 2 hour assessment, £180.00 per person

Certificate of Competence in the Safe use of Pesticides
PA1 must be attained before PA6 or PA2 can be undertaken.
PA1 – £180.00 / PA6 – £150.00 / PA2 – £220.00 per person

Certificate in the Safe use of Veterinary Medicines – Level 2
Candidates are required to supply for own PPE 1 day plus computer/practical assessment.
1 hour on-line computer assessment plus 1 hour practical assessment follows the 1 day training, £150.00 per person

Certificate of Competence in the Transport of Animals by Road (Short journeys or over 65KM and up to 8 hours)
All information will be supplied by post prior to the on-line assessment that candidates must take. On successful completion of the on-line assessment an NPTC Certificate of Competence will be awarded.
1 hour online computer assessment £50.00 – Cattle and sheep combined £50.00 – for each additional species e.g. pigs, horses, poultry
