The aim of the Enterprise Challenge Day was to challenge our students to appreciate and understand what it takes to be an entrepreneur and that running your own business is a real career option.
Almost 500 students were involved across the college.
Teams were assisted in shaping their ideas by their course tutors and visiting Dynamo Role Models.
Principal Simon Pirotte said, “I have just spent an inspirational few hours listening to the presentations from students… The judges were extremely impressed by the innovative ideas and creativity of the teams… The participants learned a great deal through the process and have gained valuable experience in terms of what is needed to be a successful entrepreneur.”
The Newtown event’s organisers, Liz Ashton and Sarah Welch, said, “The scale of this event was far greater than any run previously and offered new opportunities to all students to develop their entrepreneurial skills with the assistance and expertise of the Dynamo role models.”
Head of Faculty Steve Cass, said, “This was an amazing effort by the students who came up with some really great money making schemes. I am confident we are looking at some of the brightest entrepreneurs of the future right here in Coleg Powys.”
