Studying for the National Diploma in Early Years
Leaving school with only 1 GCSE, Sammy achieved good grades in the First Diploma in Early Years and is now studying for the National Diploma.
"I chose Early Years because I enjoy working with children and getting to know how their imaginations work as it reminds me of all of my childhood memories.
"The best thing is that you get to meet loads of new people and you gain a massive amount of experience which guides you on the right path to your chosen career."
Sammy hopes to become a teacher or childminder.

Studying BTEC National Diploma in Health Studies
Since completing her BTEC National Diploma in Health Studies, Lowri is hoping to go on to study nursing at Chester University.
Elise Andrews
Studying BTEC National Diploma in Health Studies
Elise did one year of sixth form prior to enrolling at Coleg Powys. One of the main attractions of this course is that it has many different possible progression routes.
"Once finishing the course I don't just have to stick with health as a career."
According to Elise the best thing about studying Health Studies at Coleg Powys is the method of assessment.
"There are no exams! It's all assignment based and so much easier to gain good grades."
Helen Summers
Studied BTEC National Diploma in Early Years
Helen returned to further education at the age of 33 after previously completing a 2 year secretarial course.
"I wanted to work with children and this course also gave me the option to go on to higher education to do my teacher training."
As part of her course Helen travelled out to Romania to work in schools with disadvantaged children.
"The Romania trip was a fantastic and life changing experience."
Helen now works part time as a support assistant in a school as well as supervising Early Years placements for Coleg Powys.
"Completing the course gained me the qualifications to be doing two jobs which I enjoy."
