Who is this course for?
|
This course is ideal for people who wish to pursue a career within the expanding field of Complementary Therapies. Individuals undertaking this programme will find it challenging and rewarding. This programme gives you the skills you need to progress onto an advanced complementary therapy programme.

Previous knowledge required:
|
Be 16 years of age or over on entry to the course.
Have a commitment to working with the general public.
Be successful at college interview and meet the necessary entrance requirements.

What will I study?
|
Body Massage, Introduction to Reflexology & Aromatherapy, Holistic Facial & Scalp Massage, Anatomy and Physiology, Customer Service and Reception Skills. In addition students will have the opportunity to work towards: Essential Skills &, Personal Effectiveness Programmes.

What else will I do?
|
During your time studying these qualifications you will be working commercially in well-equipped salons on members of the public treating clients on a regular basis. Salon management skills are taught alongside formal training in therapy skills. While you are studying for your qualification here at Coleg Powys, you will have the opportunity to attend additional seminars and workshops.

How will I be assessed?
|
You will be assessed by practical observations and also be required to produce written work in the form of assignments and case studies. You will also be asked to sit written assessment to demonstrate your knowledge & understanding of the subjects.

What will I achieve?
|
VTCT level 2 Diploma in Complementary Therapies; Essential skills & personal effectiveness qualifications.
|

What can I do afterwards?
|
Progression onto level 3 Complementary Therapy or other advanced courses.

You will need a uniform and text books. Details will be given at interview.

Additional information about this course:
|
This is a vocational course to prepare candidates for working in the Spa and Therapy industry. You will be expected to work one evening per week during the course.
